Cubs VS White Sox

I don't post this kind of thing very often but as longtime listeners of the show already know, I'm a longtime Chicago Cubs fan. I grew up watching them as a child on WGN and have always been a fan, despite many many years of sucktitude. When I met Beth a few years ago I was pleased to learn that I had something in common with her father, that being a love for baseball. Ironically enough, it turns out that her dad is a Chicago White Sox fan and an adamant Cub hater. I never realized there was this much animosity between the two teams as a kid, seeing as how the clubs are in separate leagues and never played each other in those days. When the White Sox won the World Series a couple of years ago, Beth's dad made sit and watch the entire 5 hour parade celebration on VHS with him. Fast forward to today where so far this season the Cubs have beaten the Sox four out of five games. Watching the game earlier today I finally started to notice the difference between Cub fans and Sox fans and luckily enough, thanks to the power of the internets, someone on YouTube! has also. (god damn that was a rambling setup just for a youtube clip)

BOB BARKERS FINAL BOW

It's amazing to think that Bob Barker had hosted "The Price is Right" longer than I've been alive. I'm saddened that I'll have never had the chance to make the pilgrimage to California to go to a taping featuring Bob.

Way back in episode 5 of our original run we did a show themed around game shows and of course, featured Bob Barker in our own twisted way. (thanks Jimmy Kimmel) I still laugh when I hear Bob get bleeped.

(comparison pics coming soon) Finally we relive a little bit of our youth by discussing a favorite movie of ours called CHOMPS. We ponder aloud why on Earth Hanna/Barbera would want to have a talking, cussing dog in a kids movie.

I hope you all are as excited as we are. We've changed up our taping style a bit. Instead of recording segments that are then put into an episode, we now just let the tape roll, cut it at 30 minutes and pick up the next episode from that point. Aside from that it's still the HHPH you've come to know and love.

I thought in order to kick off the countdown in style, here is a clip of some hilljacks absolutely destroying a bottle o' Turkey. The only thing missing from this clip is the 'Angry Beavers' theme song and about 2 dozen body bags.

This week we take a look at the rediculous fuss that the christian/catholic zealots are making over that DaVinci Code film and Chris samples a local TV news story that claims his XBox360 is going to get him molested, leading to an impromptu FU of the week.

We've also noticed a disturbing trend among podcasters, it seems that every podcaster has a myspace page, one of those stupid frappr maps, a 206 number that no one calls (HINT MF'ING HINT) or we're all begging for podcast alley votes and I suppose that's cool, but when Adam Curry or the kids at the Podcast Pickle start talking about this 'game' called Second Life, we decided that something needs to be said. .. I've had to replace a couple of things and spent the majority of today reinstalling and updating Windows drivers and bla-bla-bla. Everything has gone very smoothly, which worries me. Normally I have fucked something up royally by this stage.

Rick and I should resume taping either next weekend or the following. We'll probably have a couple of minor changes to the show format, but we've got a couple of good ideas for our upcoming stuff, which we'll go ahead and start calling it HHPH season two.

We assembled a crack writing staff of Rick, Chris and Google.com and rambled on and on about the highlights, lowlights and deaths that happened this year. We probably missed a bunch of things here and there but hey, we aren't CNN. Pres. Bush, Johnny Carson, Martha Stewart, Pat O'Brien, Johnnie Cochran, the New England Patriots and of course, Blockbuster Video (and more) all get their turn in the HHPH spotlight this episode.
